Just a quick note to say thanks for the advice and great service received from you back in snowy January.

The advice to go for the Vredestein wintrac 4 extreme tyres was sound and the difference to the albeit worn Scorpions as i drove out onto the snow was very noticeable.

No real increase in noise and the mpg has remained at 22mpg (is that good/bad who knows?).

I will let you know if i do get 40,000 miles out of these...

Andy,

Not sure if you remember us but you fitted 6 Grabber A/T's to our Nissan Terrano that we were taking to Cape Town. Thought you guys might like to know that we made it and after 23,000 miles didn't have a single tyre problem, apart from one puncture on a side wall (so doesn't really count). It was one of your guys that recommended the tires (as opposed to BFG's) to save us students some money and it proved to be very good advice.

The tires on my Rangie I think are  coming to the end of their life so I may pop in soon.

Subject: AT2's

Hi Andy,

Following our telephone call please find attached photo's of the AT2 tyres 265/65/R17 112T showing them as new then with 40,673 miles.

I have to say that personally I have found these to be the best all terrain tyre for my Disco3 and have until now had my three previous vehicles running on BFG's. AT2's are an excellent snow and sand tyre and do not skate around in the wet like others maybe because the compound is not as hard so you don't get that sliding about in the wet on corners.

In addition the picture of the worn tyres shoes a pretty even tread considering that I frequently use a caravan/trailer. In my every day job I spend a lot of time at the wheel and can also be heavy footed as people are usually waiting for our goods and services so the tyres have also worn very well considering that my Disco3 also carries around a lot of weight on top of the vehicle weight.

A pretty good test recently was the in the snow around Northumberland when I was involved with 4x4 response North East transporting Doctors to emergency calls and to Hospitals in the region where our services were used because their standard vehicles were not up to the job.

Up hill and down hill the tyres performed in snow and ice ranging from 6/8/10"+ of snow to compact ice beneath the snow and everything in between so they have been well tested and gave the reassurance that the tyres would cope with even the severest winters.

I used to have a spare set to change for off road driving but now only use the one set through all seasons and in all conditions so they are a very cost effective and safe solution.

I telephoned at 11-30 am on the 14th to enquire if you had a set of AT 2 general grabbers in stock, that would fit my Land rover Discovery 3. I was informed by Dave that you had. I arrived 30 minutes later at your workshop to get my new tyres.

Subject: General AT2 tyres. 

Hello Andy ,

 I just wanted to write to you to thank you so much for getting the best from my 57 plate TD4 Puma Defender 90.

The 265/75x16 General AT2 tyres are just fantastic,  I have been unstoppable in the snow and are working well in the mud, it drives so much safer and is not  noisy in the slightest, it even looks nicer than the standard General TR tyres supplied by L/R.

The new Black steel wheels you fitted are just right on my Black Defender and finnish the car very well, I can now save the Alloy wheels or sell on E-Bay, the advise you have given me has saves me money too.

I am new to landrovers and tried a few other specialists before I came to see you, they were not nearly as helpful .

I spend a lot of time on tracks and highways and think I have my Defender just how I want it.

I deal with lots of specilist companys and can honestly say I can think of very few so knowledgable and geniunely intrested in helping their customers, it's very unusual to hear "don't buy these, you will not need them"

Subject: General Grabber AT2s

Dear Andy

Just thought I’d drop you a quick note to say how impressed I have been with the AT2s on my Freelander 2. I’ve done some 4000 miles on them now and have been impressed with how quiet they are, how the carcass hasn’t increased “bump, thump” noise and the general good road holding of these tyres.  The slightly wider section has improved the look of the vehicle which is less important but welcome nonetheless.

But it is the last week of motoring that has really impressed, travelling over the Sussex Weald last week in fresh snow and on untreated roads the tyres were exceptionally sure footed.  At the price why anyone would consider a budget or middle brand tyre is beyond comprehension.

There is a downside, you know me, I’ll always find one, and that is a marginal reduction in mpg, roughly 4% over the OE Continentals. Not worth bothering about for all the other benefits, including your prompt service.

I have to say that the BFGoodrich AT KO tyres fitted on my Toyota Landcruiser Amazon are excellent. They are well behaved and hard wearing on the road and in my experience perform well offroad on rocky mountain tracks, wet grassy hillsides, mud, sand and snow. The large footprint and tread pattern giving a sure footed feel to the steering at all times.

Dear Mr. Sargeant,

I have been meaning to write to you for some time now to say thank you.  I have been dealing with you at AJS with various 4 wheel drive vehicles for the past ten years or so; when I recently changed my Defender 110 for a Land Cruiser LC5 I was yet again in the market for new tyres.

My brief was clear, I would be spending the majority of Christmas and the New Year period in the French and Swiss Alps.  I needed a snow tyre that would also perform well on the road and on my farm.  You recommended the General Grabber AT2, saying that you had these fitted to your wives car and had found them to be exceptional.  I was concerned if you recall that the price was nearly 35% higher for a set than another snow tyre that you had available.  I listened to your advice and with the benefit of hindsight this was the best decision I made in 2009.

I left for my festive trip on 18^th December, drove through thick snow and ice to the Channel Tunnel and made it into France twenty minutes before the tunnel was shut in that memorable snow storm.  I drove through some of the worst weather Northern France had ever suffered with temperatures hitting -16 at times; I overnighted in Epernay in the Champagne region and then drove to La Plagne which had had 50cms of snow too.  At no stage did I have to fit chains.  I was asked in La Plagne by others to tow cars that had become stuck and two of these were 4 wheel drive cars too.  I drove back to the UK yesterday, into the worst snow in two decades according to the BBC, again I have full control and I have realised the term ‘snow tyre’ means peace of mind when coupled to this superb product.  I have driven over 5000 miles on the tyres now and they still look and perform like new.

Many people write and call to complain, I wanted to simply say thank you to you for your advice and if you wanted to pass this email on to your suppliers to let them know they have a great product I would be happy for this too.  Many thanks for your advice and for making this car both safe and practical, as another advertiser states – it does what it says on the tin.
